The glass

Serve this one in an old fashioned glass. The old fashioned glass or rocks glass is a short tumbler used for serving spirits, such as whisky, neat or with ice cubes. It is also normally used to serve certain cocktails, such as the Old Fashioned, from which it receives its name.

Did you know

The history around this cocktail is mysterious: no one knows who invented it. It became popular in the 1970’s when cocktails were strong and sweet. It’s believed to take the name after the Godfather movie with Marlon Brando, which came out in 1972. Stanley M. Jones' 1977 Jones' Complete Barguide and most other cocktail books of the period stipulate equal parts of Scotch and amaretto, but proportions range to 4:1 (60ml scotch to 15ml amaretto), and even as dry as 8:1 (60ml scotch to 7.5ml amaretto)
