How to Make a New York Sour

Instructions

  1. In a shaker, combine bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup and dry shake for 20 seconds.
  2. Add a few cubes of fresh ice and shake for 30 seconds until well chilled then strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.
  3. Slowly pour red wine over the back of a spoon on top of the drink.

Garnish

Garnish with a cherry or lemon twist.

  • No bourbon? Try whisky or scotch.
  • No lemon juice? Try lime juice.
  • No lemons? Try limes.

The glass

Serve this one in a rocks glass. Basically an Old Fashioned glass, but stronger with thicker glass and rim, made from toughened glass to suit drinks that require muddling.
